Effect of Nitiendipine Prescribed Once Daily in Essential Hypertension

Abstract
|
|
|
Nitrendipine is an effctive antihypertensive drug which can bge used once daily. It may bring side effects frequently but not so seriously. The purpose of this srudy is to see the effectiveness and side effect of Nitrendipine in primary care and
evaluate the factors attributing dropout which can develop without active intervention of physician.
We have observed 38 paescribed Nitrendipine 10-30mg once daily, without active ubftervention of physician about dropout for 8 weeks. Thirteen patients (46.4%) of 28 who have been followed-up for 4 weeks experienced side effects. Two of them
continued
Nitrendipine and 11 of them quitted the drug. Nitrendipine was effective in all patients (13 patients), but 3 (23.1%) of them should have taken diuretics additionally.
We could see the reason for dropout by followup call. Among 14 patients nine stopped creatment of hypertension and 5 of them dropped out because they had not any symptoms at that time.
@ES We have two conclusions.
@EN 1. The effect of Nitrendipine is good.
2. Active intervention such as education may be importment to improve compliance.
